Hints & Tips

Makeup is about feeling good about yourself, so do what you LOVE!

We use our makeup to make us feel better about ourselves. The most important thing to remember is that we do it for ourselves- there are no rules to makeup, so if bright blue eyeshadow makes you feel wonderful, then wear it!

Makeup is used to create illusions; to bring out those features we love, and to hide those things that we don't love as much. Dare to try new things with your makeup, even if it is just adding a touch of colour when you normally just wear brown. A new look will make you feel fresh and is a quick pick-me-up for the day!

There are no rules to makeup - everyone has their own style, and diffferent thing suit different people.

Here are a few tips We’ve learnt along the way.

CONCEALING

Zazi Concealers hide those not-so-loved bits and help to create that flawless base that we all crave!

We have two colours in the Zazi Concealers; yellow concealer and green concealer. The yellow concealer helps to eliminate any purple tones we may have in the skin, i.e. dark circles, pigmentation, birthmarks etc. The green concealer will reduce redness in the skin, i.e rosacea, blemishes, broken capillaries etc.

APPLICATION of your Concealer

There are multiple ways to apply your concealer, depending on which area you wish to conceal. The Zazi Mineral Concealers are extremely concentrated. We advise everyone to use a very very small amount at first, as you can always apply more if it is desired, however once you have it on, it is harder to blend away or remove. Concealer should always be applied prior to application of the foundation.

To Conceal a larger area (cheeks, nose etc) - shake a small amount of product into the lid. Swirl your Zazi Kabuki brush into the lid to pick up the product and gently tap the brush handle onto a bench or the back of your hand to settle the product into the brush. Again, using the kabuki brush in a circular motion, apply the concealer to the affected area of your skin.

If the spot you wish to conceal is a smaller area, you would shake a small amount of product onto the back of your hand. To apply dry, use your Zazi Blender Brush to pick up a small amont of the product and using small circular motions, apply to the affected spot.

You could also apply the concealer as a cream if you prefer this. To do this, shake a small amount of the concealer onto the back of the hand. Alongside the product, pump a small amount of your Zazi Natures serum - equivalent to the size of half a grain of rice. When you mix the two together, the concealer will become of cream consistency. You then use your Zazi Blender Brush to apply to the affected spots.

With the Concealer, do not blend the concealer too much before applying the foundation, as during the application of the foundation, the Zazi Kabuki Brush will blend the concealer in, creating a smooth and even base.

Note: for concealing under eye circles using it as a cream is preferred.

FOUNDATION

One of the best features of a mineral foundation is that it is very easy to customize your coverage to your desired look, whether you love a heavy coverage, or just a light daytime coverage.

APPLICATION

DRY - Shake a small amount of the Zazi Mineral Foundation into the lid. Using your Zazi Kabuki Brush to pick up the product by using a small circular motion in the lid. Tap the handle of the brush onto a bench or the back of your hand and apply to the face using firm circular motions - starting from the outside of your face and working the brush inwards towards the nose, buffing the product onto the skin. Repeat until the desired coverage is achieved. Use excess product on the brush to blend the foundation down your neck, behind your ears and also your decolletage to create a more even finish and avoid makeup lines.

WET - Using the Foundation as a liquid will give a heavier coverage, as well as a more dewey finish to the skin. To use the foundation as a liquid, pump a half pump of your Zazi Natures Serum into the palm of your hand. Shake an amount of Foundation equivalent to what you would use on your whole face onto the serum in your palm, genlty mix then rub hands together and apply to face, ensuring to blend down the neck and behind the ears. Use your Zazi Kabuki Brush to apply a fine layer of the Foundation Powder dry over the top in place of a finishing powder.

If you dont like to use your hands to apply, you can mix the same amounts onto a small tile or plate and apply to the face with a flat foundation brush. Again, finish using your kabuki brush to apply Zazi Foundation Powder as a setting powder.

BLUSH/ BRONZER

The correct use of any Zazi blush or bronzer will create beautiful definition of the cheeks. A great guideline to the application is as follows:  envisage an imaginary line from the corner of your mouth to the top point of your ear and another straight down from the outer corner of your eye. Start at the point where the two lines meet with your Zazi Blush Brush and apply outwards towards your ear. Blend gently up and down to remove any severe lines, however don't blend so much that there is no definition.

To Zaz it up a bit, add some aztec, azure or fortune to the top of the cheekbone, just above the blush/bronzer you have just applied. This will really highlight your cheek bone.

LIPS

Lips are the finishing touch to your makeup application and choosing the right colour is alot easier than you think. Personal preference  is so important- however a good tip to remember is only have one stand out feature on your face. If you have dark or dramatic eyes, use a more subtle lip colour or a bright or vibrant lip colour if you have subtle eyes.

You can also jazz up your lipstick with some of the Zazi Eye Colour's. Some examples are:

  • Cosmo with Antique mixed in gives a lovely pearlescent hue.
  • Mona Lisa with Tutu over the top gives a softer pink than Cosmo.
  • Using dusk with the lipsticks creates a more matt finish.
  • Add a small amount of Aztec or Fortune to the centre of your lip to really give you that pop out pout
  • Use a darker lipstick on the outside of the lips then follow with a lighter shade in the centre to give the illusion of bigger lips.

HIGHLIGHTING

Highlighting is a quick and easy way to draw attention to those areas that we love- whether it be your lips, cheeks or eyes. When highlighting, the most effective colours in the Zazi Range are Aztec (cream), Azure (white) or Fortune (gold)

Eyes

Highlighting eyes is so simple yet really effective. The most common colour we use to highlight the eyes is Aztec, as it is complimentary to more colours and looks, and fortune and azure are more restrictive to the colours that they compliment. Be Wary of this when choosing which highlighter you would like. Apply your highlighting colour all the way up, stopping at the eyebrow. If you dont feel confident with shadow applied that high on the eye, try it very subtley at first, and eventually buils on the colour. When a highlight is applied correctly, you should see just a light shine -not a block of colour. This will pop out your bone  which will give you  a more professional look. Also apply a small amount of the same colour into the inside corner of your eye top and bottom (near the tear duct). This will make the eyes appear brighter and more open.

Cheeks

Quite basic but again very effective.  I like Aztec, Fortune and even Peachy Keen for cheeks. Once you have applied your chosen blush, follow above that line with your chosen highlight colour, using your Zazi Blush brush. Remember to only use a small amount of product as it is concentrated. Slightly blend with the brush to soften any obvious lines.
